DONATE BLOOD, WIN A HARLEY… BLOOD NEEDED FOR SUMMER MONTHS

LifeStream will conduct a community blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the “new” Stater Brothers parking lot on the east end of Yucca Valley, 58080 29 Palms Highway. Donors will receive incentives. In addition, LifeStream blood bank is giving away a Harley-Davidson motorcycle this summer. Reporter Jill Carey Michaels shares the “Live to give, live to ride” details…

LifeStream blood donors who give the gift of life by donating blood June 1st to August 7th at any fixed-site center or mobile drive can win a 2017 Harley-Davidson XL883 motorcycle. To qualify, donors need only mention the Harley-Davidson sweepstakes or give the code “MHDE” at registration. Winner must be at least 18 years of age.

“Live to give, live to ride” is more than an idle slogan to 20-year-old Hannah Grinnan of Redlands. With the assistance of volunteer LifeStream blood donors, Ms. Grinnan survived heart transplant surgery at 11 days of age. Now, she’s a proud and grateful blood donor herself. Hannah explains, “It’s the best way I can repay what was done for me.”

Blood donors are especially needed during the summer months, when community blood supply typically decreases while demand can increase due to incidents related to more people taking part in outdoor activities, traveling, etc.

LifeStream donor centers are open 7 days per week; during the promotional period, mobile drives are conducted dally except on July 4. For more information or to set an appointment, go to LStream.org.
