A Twentynine Palms man told deputies he couldn’t have beaten up his girlfriend because he was wearing socks on his hands. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to a home in the 6800 block of Maude Adams Avenue about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night for a man hitting a woman. According to the report, Wesley Cross, 46, had been drinking beer for several hours when he started arguing with his girlfriend. Cross allegedly grabbed her by the arm and threw her to the ground. When the woman got up and went inside, Cross allegedly threatened to hurt her and her family. When deputies arrived, Roberts told them that he did not grab his girlfriend because he was wearing socks on his hands, and he had his sock puppets corroborate the story. After an investigation, Wesley Cross was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
A Joshua Tree man was arrested Sunday, accused of beating up his girlfriend for the second time in two weeks. According to a Sheriff’s report, a friend of Allen Gose, 51, called deputies about 8:15 p.m. to report that an argument between Gose and his girlfriend turned physical at a home in the 5700 block of Sunfair Road in Joshua Tree. During the fight, Gose is accused of pushing the woman to the floor and kicking her several times. The woman sustained injuries to her face. About two weeks ago, during a similar incident that went unreported, Gose is alleged to have thrown an object that struck the woman, who still had bruises from the assault. Allen Gose was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
