A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Sunday morning, accused of trying to choke a woman. According to a Sheriff’s report, Michael Holt, 47, broke
into a house in the 6600 block of Palo Verde Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 8 a.m. and choked a woman. She told deputies she felt like she was going to die. Holt then fled but was located about two hours later near Highway 62 and Mesquite Springs Road in Twentynine Palms. Michael Holt was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
A Yucca Valley woman was arrested late Saturday night after she allegedly broke out the windows of her boyfriend’s van. According to a Sheriff’s report, Sharina Derrick, 39, was with her boyfriend drinking at a shop in the 55900 block of 29 Palms Highway in Yucca Valley when he tried to leave with a friend about 7:30 p.m. Derrick tried to prevent him from leaving and when he broke free of her hold, she punched him once in the back of his head. When he told her to go in his van to cool off, she got in the van and started breaking windows instead. Sharina Derrick was arrested for investigation of felony vandalism and domestic battery, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $50,000.
