DOG ATTACKED AND KILLED BY THREE PIT BULLS IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Three pit bulls, who reportedly attacked and killed another dog, were taken by Animal Control Officers in Twentynine Palms early Thursday morning. According to sheriff’s reports, Deputies were called to the 6500 block of El Rey Avenue in Twentynine Palms at around 2:15 a.m. on Thursday by an unnamed man who reported that three stray pit bulls had entered his yard and mauled and killed his dog. The man also reported that one of the pit bulls had attacked him and that he shot at it in self-defense. When Deputies arrived, they were reportedly forced to use pepper spray to keep the pit bulls away. Deputies then heard a man calling to the dogs and followed the dogs and the voice until they located the dog’s reported owner, who was also unnamed in the report. Deputies determined that one of the pit bulls had been shot twice in the shoulder. Animal control officers were called to the scene and the three pit bulls were taken away. The unnamed owner of the pit bulls was taken by Deputies for observation.
