In local sports, disappointment for local basketball fans as two extended season efforts were met with losses.
It was a packed house in the Bell center Friday night as the Copper Mountain college Men’s basketball team hosted a first-round playoff game against visiting Ventura College. It was a high-intensity game that went back and forth throughout. Sharp shooting and impressive guard play from Ventura eventually gave them the edge and they went on to eliminate CMC 87-75. The Fighting Cacti finished their inaugural season with an impressive 20-10 record and definitely made a name for themselves in the state this year
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity basketball team lost Friday’s CIF semi-final playoff game against Knight High School of Palmdale by a score of 70-67.
