DEVELOPMENT OF OLD TOWN AND WATER REDUCTION WERE DISCUSSED AT YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL MEETING

A development plan for Old Town Yucca Valley and a comprehensive discussion of water use were topics at last night’s (March 15) regularly scheduled meeting of the Yucca Valley Town Council. Reporter Hilary Sloane is here with a complete account of the meeting…

At last night’s regular meeting, the Yucca Valley Town Council introduced Ms. Yucca Valley Court members. Miss Yucca Valley, Lei Leonie Liechti, and First Princess Jaylene Ramos were present at the meeting. Second, princess Lila Foster was out of town. Also introduced were two new town employees, Doug Cothes and Steven Sterling.

After the introductions, consent agenda issues number 2 – 7 were unanimously approved. The Town Council then reviewed ideas for providing economic opportunities for Old Town development and the feasibility of an open space event area. Doug Grove, Principal Landscape Architect with RHA Landscape Architects and Planners, presented the proposed area’s rendering. Essential issues for the council members were public parking, RV and bus parking, restrooms, a stage, dog park, public spaces, shade structures, and water and power. Sarann Graham, co-owner at Graham Communications, suggested the council look at a development plan for Old Town previously introduced in 2005.

Also discussed in detail during the meeting were Phase I Irrigation Water Use Reduction Study and Synthetic Sports Fields Turf Analysis. Both reports are open to further study and discussion. Finally, the Council awarded a public outreach and marketing contract to Tripepi Smith to assist with public outreach concerning composting and general recycling.
