The Sheriff’s Department has released information about an officer-involved three-vehicle crash in Twentynine Palms on Christmas Eve. Just after 6:30 p.m., Deputy Jason Boord, 25, from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station was driving a marked patrol car eastbound on Highway 62, approaching Encelia Avenue. Driving westbound on the highway in the center lane, preparing to make a turn into the Stater Brothers shopping center, was Devry Johnson, 27, of Twentynine Palms. Boord saw Johnson turning left and veered to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision, but his patrol car was struck by Johnson’s vehicle on the driver’s side. The patrol car continued forward and rear ended a vehicle driven by Jennifer Levesque, 29, of Twentynine Palms, who had just turned eastbound onto the highway from the shopping center. Levesque’s vehicle traveled across the westbound lanes and stopped on the dirt embankment. Jason Boord, Devry Johnson, and Jennifer Levesque were taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and released.
