DESERT PROTECTION ACT CELEBRATION AT BIG MORONGO CANYON

Desert communities from all over California are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the California Desert Protection Act, which increased protection for over 8 million acres of the California desert.   Reporter Caitlin Logan tells about an event in Morongo Valley…

In celebration, The SummerTree Institute and Morongo Valley Community Services District are hosting an eco-discovery walk in the Big Morongo Canyon preserve. Join botanist and wildlife biologist Robin Kobaly, on an interpretive stroll on the boardwalk through the marsh and riparian woodlands. The event will end at the Pavilion in beautiful Covington Park with lunch, music, and art by Morongo Valley Art Colony. The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible. The admission is free, however, there is limited seating. The event takes place from 10 am to noon on November 13th, and will begin and end at Covington Park in Morongo Valley, East Drive off of Highway 62.
