“DESERT ORACLE RADIO” LIVE PERFORMANCE BENEFITS THEATRE 29

The Phenomena that is Desert Oracle, which is simulcast here at Z107.7, will host a live show at Theatre 29. Entertainment reporter Charlie Thomas shares the details…

The Desert Oracle phenomena started 6 years ago as what Macmillan Publishers describe as a “Quasi-mythical, quarterly periodical available to the very determined only by subscription or at the odd desert-town gas station or the occasional hipster boutique, its canary-yellow-covered, forty-four-page issues handed from one curious desert zealot to the next, word spreading faster than the printers could keep up with. It became a radio show, a podcast, a live performance.”

In their first live performance since 2019, Desert Oracle Radio will be live onstage at Theatre 29, with host Ken Layne and the atmospheric soundscapes of RedBlueBlackSilver. Two shows are on sale now: Saturday and Sunday, July 10 & 11, at 7 p.m. Advance general admission tickets are available now for $20.00 dollars at link at www.theatre29.org.

The performances will benefit Theater 29, Twentynine Palms’ non-profit community theater. The Desert Oracle live show will be the first public performance at Theatre 29 since March of 2020. According to state Covid-19 guidelines, masks will only be required for the unvaccinated.

Desert Oracle Radio broadcasts from its home station in Joshua Tree, Z107.7 FM, Friday nights at 10:00. The show premiered in 2017 and is now heard on community radio stations across the country and in podcasts. The first hardcover collection of Desert Oracle tales was published in December by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. More information is available at desertoracle.com.
