DESERT INSTITUTE TO HOST PROGRAM ON TRAIL-MAKING

The Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park will present an online program on how trails are made. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about the program and how you can sign up…

If you have ever wondered where the trails we use come from and how they are conceptualized, designed, built, and maintained, the Desert Institute will answer your questions. An online program will discuss trail design principles; what trail users want to see, and what to avoid; environmental laws on public land; steps to building a new trail; trail maintenance; and career opportunities in building new trails. The program is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 30. Participants are asked to donate at least $5 to watch the program.

A replay will be available for anyone who cannot make it to the event.
