Desert Hot Springs police discovered an illegal marijuana grow following a house fire early Tuesday morning. About 5:45 a.m., firefighters were called to the 65300 block of Osprey Lane for a house fire. While fighting the blaze, firefighters discovered an illegal marijuana grow operation inside the home and called police. Detectives, armed with a search warrant, seized over 700 marijuana plants in various stages of growth with an estimated street value of $1 million. The occupants of the home fled prior to the arrival of first responders. The cause of the fire appears to be faulty electrical wiring connected to the illegal grow inside the home.
