DESERT HOT SPRINGS MAN FOUND WITH DRUGS AND WEAPONS IN YUCCA VALLEY

A convicted felon from Desert Hot Springs was arrested in Yucca Valley Wednesday after he was found with drugs and a weapon. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy made a traffic stop at about 1:15 a.m. on a gray Nissan near Highway 62 and Sage Avenue for having false registration tags. While speaking with the driver, Steven Carey, 44, the deputy saw what appeared to be methamphetamine on the front seat in plain view. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy found a 12-gauge shotgun and shotgun shells. As a convicted felon, Carey is prohibited from owning both. Steven Carey was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a weapon and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
