DESERT HOT SPRINGS MAN ARRESTED IN YUCCA VALLEY WITH STOLEN MERCEDES

A Desert Hot Springs man was arrested Wednesday after he attempted to drive a stolen Mercedes in Yucca Valley. According to a Sheriff’s report, Morongo Basin deputies were alerted about 7 p.m. that a Mercedes Benz E350, stolen from Palm Springs, was at an apartment complex in the 6300 block of Hermosa Avenue in Yucca Valley. A deputy conducted surveillance on the vehicle, and shortly before 9 p.m., a man, later identified as Roy Runyon, 25, came out of the home and started removing items from the car’s trunk. The deputy approached Runyon at gunpoint, and Runyon was found to have not only the vehicle’s keys, but shaved car keys, as well drug paraphernalia, bolt cutters, and various burglary tools. Roy Runyon was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
