A Desert Hot Springs man thought he’d avoid detection for his felony warrant from Riverside County if he went to Hi-Desert Medical Center to be treated for his gunshot wound. According to a Sheriff’s report, Andre Chappell, 38, was a friend’s home in Desert Hot Springs Saturday evening when his friend accidentally shot him in the leg with a 22-caliber bullet. Medical staff are required to report all gunshot wounds to law enforcement, and the Sheriff’s Department was called shortly before 9 p.m. After an investigation, Andre Chappell was arrested on his felony warrant and is being held without bail at West Valley Detention Center.
