A Desert Hot Springs man was arrested Friday, accused of plotting to ambush and kill police officers and civilians. According to the Desert Hot Springs police, officers received a tip from a Desert Hot Springs business that Oscar Rene Parra Rincon, 39, had illegally purchased ammunition and was planning to shoot people, and then shoot and kill the responding officers. Officers learned that Parra Rincon was at a home in the 68000 block of Calle Azteca in Desert Hot Springs, and with the assistance of the Coachella Valley Gang Task Force and the Riverside County Sheriff’s department, surrounded the home. Parra Rincon surrendered about 9:15 p.m. without incident. Oscar Parra-Rincon was arrested for investigation of kidnapping, attempted murder, being a felon in possession of ammunition, and violating his probation. Parra-Rincon was booked into the Banning Jail with his bail set at $3,005,000.
