DESERT HOT SPRINGS MAN ACCUSED OF MURDER, ARRESTED

A Desert Hot Springs man was arrested Wednesday, accused of murder. According to the Desert Hot Springs police, officers were sent to the 13300 block of Verbena Drive about 10 p.m. Tuesday night for a call of shots fired. When they arrived, they found Steven Nelson, 49, had been shot. The suspect, Brian Hernandez, 48, was still at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. Nelson was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs where he died Wednesday. Brian Hernandez was arrested for investigation of murder and brandishing a weapon, booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio, with his bail set at $2 million.
