A family had to be rescued by a Sheriff’s helicopter early Wednesday morning after their vehicle became stuck in rough terrain in Yucca Valley. According to a Sheriff’s spokeswoman, Steven Hook, 55, of Desert Hot Springs called for help about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to say that he and his two young children, a 10-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl, had been stranded for 10 hours when their Jeep became stuck on a rough road in the hills west of Yucca Valley. The father said they had been on their way Tuesday morning to look at a large property for sale west of Ridge Road in Yucca Valley. Deputies called in the Sheriff’s helicopter 40 King which located the family. The helicopter provided lighting to the family to guide them in the direction of where the deputies were waiting for them. Steven Hook and his children were all in good health and did not require medical aid. Deputies then transported the family to their residence.
