Desert Hot Springs Police Chief Dale Mondary submitted his resignation this morning. The move follows a closed session meeting this morning of the Desert Hot Springs City Council. His resignation goes into effect as of 6 p.m. tonight. Mondary was placed on administrative leave a month ago after a woman came forward with sexually suggestive messages from Mondary. Mondary is a Yucca Valley resident and a former captain of the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station. Mondary took over as chief of police four years ago. Interim Chief Jim Henson will remain the chief of police for the foreseeable future, according to the city’s public information officer.
