We have more information about a fire that occurred early Thursday morning in the Desert Heights area of Twentynine Palms. Firefighters were called to the blaze in the 1000 block of Friendship Avenue at 3:15 a.m. where they found a big rig trailer—filled with books, clothing, and other miscellaneous items—burning. The fire also burned down the rear fencing on the property. Crews discovered an outdoor marijuana grow and called in Sheriff’s deputies, who arrived with a search warrant. Deputies found about 300 marijuana plants in the backyard, and discovered that the electric meter had been tampered with as well. The marijuana plants were removed. No residents were at the scene at the time of the fire; the Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Squad is investigating.
