Derek Marshall announces 2024 Congress run, challenging Jay Obernolte

Derek Marshall has announced he is running for Congress in the 2024 election, taking on current Representative Jay Obernolte to represent California’s 23rd District.

Obernolte, a Republican, and Marshall, a Democrat, ran against each other in the 2022 election, in which Obernolte won 61% of the vote versus Marshall’s 39%, with more than 35,000 votes separating the two.

Marshall is the first candidate to announce intent to challenge the incumbent Obernolte in the run for California’s 23rd Congressional district in the 2024 race.
