DEPUTY-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN YUCCA VALLEY MONDAY AFTERNOON

Authorities are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that took place in Yucca Valley Monday afternoon. According to sheriff’s reports, Deputies attempted a traffic stop near Paxton Road and Imperial Drive around 12:30 p.m. in Yucca Valley. Deputies initiated a pursuit after the suspect on a motorcycle failed to yield. During the pursuit, the suspect dumped the bike near Dumosa and Sunnyslope and ran South into the desert. Moments later a deputy was shot just South of Crestview and Barberry. The suspect was located by deputies soon after, deceased from a gunshot wound. It is not known if he died from a gunshot from a Deputy or if it was self-inflicted.. The deputy was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center, his condition is unknown. The investigation is ongoing, Z107.7 will continue to provide updates as they become available.
