DEPUTIES SEEKING SUV DRIVER WHO HIT YUCCA VALLEY MAN IN WHEELCHAIR WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday. About 8:15 p.m., a woman was driving a silver SUV southbound on Grand Avenue near Antelope Trail in Yucca Valley when witnesses said she hit Travis Carlson, 49, of Yucca Valley, who was in a wheelchair in the road. The road was dark with no street lights, making it difficult to see Carlson. The driver fled the scene before deputies arrived. Travis Carlson was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Debris in the road confirmed that the SUV sustained front end damage. Deputies have been unable to locate the vehicle, and the driver is still unidentified. Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
