Sheriff’s deputies are investigation a case of an attempted armed robbery in Joshua Tree Thursday night. According to a Sheriff’s report, the victim was walking to a church near his home just before 10 p.m. near Verbena Road and Park Boulevard in Joshua Tree. The victim told deputies that a dark-colored, older-model S10 pick-up truck turned eastbound on Verbena Road and stopped. He said the driver got out of the truck and pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at him and demanded his wallet, keys, and cell phone. The victim said the robber then pulled the trigger, but when the shotgun did not fire, the suspect said “oops, have a good night” and then got back in his truck and drove off on Verbena toward the Circle K. The suspect was wearing black pants, a black long-sleeve shirt, a black ski-mask, and is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. Anyone with information should call 760-366-4175.
