Deputies proactively patrol unsanctioned OHV event in Lucerne Valley

An unsanctioned off-roading event in the hi-desert led to one arrest, several citations, and deputy contact with 125 off-roaders.

On Saturday (April 5), the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department sent four deputies in two off-highway vehicles to Lucerne Valley where they say an unsanctioned off-roading event was taking place. Deputies say they were proactively patrolling the area of the gathering to educate off-roaders and enforce OHV laws, including appropriate places to drive and the use of safety equipment.

Deputies say that one person was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and several citations were issued regarding the use of OHV in public roadways, registration violations, and the lack of helmets. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reminds off-road enthusiasts to be familiar with local and state laws regarding the safe and lawful operation of OHVs and legal OHV riding areas in San Bernardino County.
