The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a suspected armed robbery in Twentynine Palms. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman’s car ran out of gas Thursday night on Encelia Avenue, just south of Two Mile Road. The driver was walking home on Encelia about 8:30 p.m., when she was confronted by a man who allegedly pulled a black handgun from his waistband, pointed it at her, and demanded money. The victim told deputies she gave him the money she had. He then asked her if the car on the side of the road hers was; when she said it wasn’t, he pushed her to the ground, threw her wallet back at her and ran off down Encelia Avenue. The victim described the robber as a black man in his late 30s to early 40s, about 6’1” with a short beard and short black hair, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
