Deputies in Twentynine Palms discover assault in progress while following up on previous domestic violence call
Deputies say they were able to stop an act of domestic violence while it was happening in Twentynine Palms.
On April 30, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of domestic violence in the 74000 block of Twilight Drive in Twentynine Palms. Deputies R. Maldonado and N. Arenas spoke with the victim at the home, who said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend before he fled the scene. Deputies identified the suspect as Carl Queen, a 34 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms.
Deputies say they utilized Flock automated license plate readers installed at intersections across Twentynine Palms to locate Queen’s vehicle. On May 1, they found the car abandoned, and say that its proximity to the victim’s home caused them to return to the house on Twilight Drive. Deputies say they hear muffled screams from inside the house and forced entry. They say they witnessed Queen assaulting and strangling the victim and immediately restrained him.
Queen was arrested on suspicion of charges related to domestic violence and making criminal threats. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $160,000 bail.
