The Twentynine Palms Historical Society will again host its delightfully quirky annual Weed Show at the Old Schoolhouse Museum. Reporter Rebecca Havely has the details…
Now in its seventh decade, the Weed Show is one of Twentynine Palms’ oldest and most unique artistic traditions. This year’s Weed Show theme is “Jumping Cholla Book Club.” The event takes place Saturday, November 5, from noon to 4, and Sunday, November 6, from 10 to 4. There is no fee to enter your creation in the competition, or to come view the show. Entries are judged on subject matter, use of desert vegetation, use of accessories, artistic composition and originality. Awards will be granted in 12 categories, with a People’s Choice award to be decided by visitors to the exhibition. The Weed Show highlights the beauty of the local flora and the skill of our town’s artisans.
