DEATH VALLEY RECORDS HIGHEST TEMPERATURE ON EARTH SINCE 1913

A temperature of 130°F was recorded at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park at 3:41 PM Sunday, August 16. If verified, this will be the hottest temperature verified on earth since a temperature of 134°F July 10 of 1913. Based on current records, Sunday’s observation would tie for third all-time hottest temperature record. The sensor at Furnace Creek will be tested to verify that the sensor was working properly. This is a late-season event. Temperatures have never exceeded 125°F at Death Valley this late in the summer.
