DEATH THREATS LEAD TO AN ARREST IN 29 PALMS

A Twentynine Palms Transient man was arrested Tuesday (June 15), accused of making death threats. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies responded to the 7-11 gas station in Twentynine Palms around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a man, later identified as Jermell Hayes, 44, making death threats to customers in the store and not allowing anyone to enter or exit the store. Hayes was also holding his hands in his waistband as if he had a weapon. Arriving deputies located and detained Hayes, who admitted to the deputies that he made the death threats. During a search of Hayes, Deputies located suspected methamphetamine. Jermell Hayes was arrested for investigation of making death threats and for possession of methamphetamine. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
