The 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Commission has released draft maps for the state’s Congressional, Senate, Assembly, and Board of Equalization districts. The maps are redrawn every ten years to assure that citizens’ political representation evolves with the public’s changing demographics. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has what you need to know to review and comment on the maps…
The draft maps are considered to be a starting point for public discussion. The deadline for the commission to present final, certified maps is December 27. Public input was evaluated throughout the summer and is a key element in updating district boundaries. Now input is again sought for any final revisions. Deadlines for public input loom with November 23 set as the last date on which feedback will be taken.
