Cyclist armed with throwing and butcher knives resists arrest in Yucca Valley

A cyclist armed with a throwing knife is alleged to have fought deputies during a traffic stop.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Friday morning (January 13), Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a cyclist who had been riding against traffic at night with no front light near the intersection of Joshua Lane and Yucca Trail in Yucca Valley.

Deputies say the cyclist, identified as David Daniels, a 45 year-old Yucca Valley man, took a “fighting stance” and cursed at the officers. Deputies attempted to detain Daniels, at which point what they describe as a “scuffle” ensued.

Deputies were eventually able to detain Daniels, and found that he was carrying a butcher knife and a throwing dagger.  David Daniels was arrested for resisting an executive officer and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with bail set at $30,000.
