Eight La Contenta Middle School eighth-grade students recently participated in the Mojave Water Agency’s Curiosity Quest Problem Solvers competition to develop and present a conceptual product to reduce water consumption. The students made three separate trips to Apple Valley for the competition, ultimately developing the idea for an in-home water conservation system that tracks water consumption and relays the information to a smart phone app. During the February 14 Water Summit in Victorville, the group was awarded first place in the contest, which included a $3,000 check for the school.
