A minor-injury crash closed the Morongo Grade Tuesday morning for about an hour an a half. The grade is currently under construction, Yesterday, both directions of travel shared the two westbound lanes with just orange cones separating the two lanes. About 7:30 a.m., a blue Toyota FJ Cruiser and a silver Cadillac XT5 had a head-on crash in the middle of the grade. Traffic was backed up for miles in each direction as CHP, tow trucks, and first responders worked the scene. One person with minor injuries was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The lanes re-opened just before 9 a.m. The CHP reminds drivers to use caution and that the speed limit through the construction zone is 25 miles per hour.
