As another week of the COVID-19 pandemic comes and goes, the County of San Bernardino has released updates on vaccinations and testing. Due to limited supply, the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine is no longer available at County-run vaccination sites. The County will continue to provide a portion of Johnson & Johnson vaccines to its vaccine provider network (i.e., clinics, pharmacies, etc.) with J&J while supplies last. If you are seeking the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, check out vaccines.gov for locations offering the vaccine near you.
Testing remains in high demand countywide as COVID-19 continues to surge following the holiday season. County-facilitated testing sites will now resume the distribution of free over-the-counter antigen tests kits to individuals who live, work or attend school in San Bernardino County (proof of residency or employment required). For testing and vaccination appointments, visit sbcovid19.com.
Additionally, residents of Twentynine Palms can get at-home test kits from New Pharmacy, located at 72724 Twentynine Palms Highway. Kits are available while supplies last, with a limit of one per household with proof of Twentynine Palms residency. For further information or questions, please call City Hall at (760) 367-6799.
Hilary Sloane joins us now with additional practices to follow to keep yourself and others safeā¦
The County wants to remind everyone the pandemic is not over. Follow these safe practices. Get vaccinated or boosted if you are eligible. Wear a mask. N95 and KN95 masks are the most effective, but surgical masks or disposable masks are also effective. Fabric masks are less effective. However, they are improved by double masking. Any mask is only effective worn over your nose and mouth. Stay at home if you are feeling sick. Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated places. Maintain physical distancing when around others outside your household. Monitor your health daily and test to prevent spread. To make an appointment for a Covid test or vaccine, visit SBCovid19.com. Walk-in appointments are available at County-operated vaccination sites.
The federal government has also launched its website to sign up for free COVID-19 tests, allowing people to order a maximum of four tests shipped directly to their households. To order at-home test kits, visit covidtests.gov
