COVID-19 BOOSTER SHOTS AVAILABLE: DO YOU QUALIFY?

Though life is beginning its return to normal, COVID-19 continues to be a health threat. The Center for Disease Control is recommending booster shots for certain demographics of vaccinated people. To tell us more, here’s reporter Jef Harmatz.

The CDC is recommending additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to certain people. While the vaccine continues to be the best prevention from contracting the disease, vaccine effectiveness begins to fade after six months, and booster doses may be required. Current CDC recommendations are that, if you received a Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, are 65 years and older, 50-64 years old with underlying health conditions, or over 18 years old and and living in a long-term care facility, you should schedule a booster shot. The CDC recommends that everyone who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine should receive a booster dose. The CDC has indicated that the mixing of different vaccines is allowed.
