A court martial will be held today (March 8) for at least one service member who was charged in a shooting on board the Combat Center that killed a Navy corpsman about 18 months ago. HM3 Michael DeLeon, 30, was shot and killed during a house party on the base August 16, 2019. Z107.7 News has learned that DeLeon was partying and drinking with at least four other corpsmen—HM3 Mason Williams, 23, HM2 Sterling Wold, 28, HM2 Jesse Humes, 27, and HM1 Ryan Dini, 37. During the party, a gun was brought out and fired, killing DeLeon. DeLeon’s family said they were initially told it was suicide; months later they learned DeLeon had been shot by another corpsman. HM2 Sterling Wold and HM2 Jesse Humes have been charged with dereliction of duty; they are expected to plead guilty at a summary court martial today. HM3 Mason Williams is charged with reckless endangerment, violation of a lawful general order, dereliction of duty, drunk and disorderly conduct, and making a false official statement. He is expected to be arraigned today. HM1 Ryan Dini was charged with dereliction of duty and drunk and disorderly conduct.
