Rescuers are searching for a missing couple in Joshua Tree National Park. According to a park spokesman, a ping of the man’s cell phone was recorded at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 27, inside the park. A car belonging to the couple was found in the vicinity of the Maze Loop, in the northwest area of the park. The unidentified man and woman were supposed to have checked out of their accommodations at 11 a.m. Friday, but all their belongings were left behind with no additional contact information. Searchers from Joshua Tree Search and Rescue, the Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol, as well as search dogs, are all looking for the missing couple. On Friday, searchers found tracks leading from the car into a canyon, but the couple has not been located yet. The search is continuing Saturday. The woman, identified only as being in her 20s, is of Asian descent. There is no description of the man with her other than he is also in his 20s. Anyone who has seen this couple, or who has information on their whereabouts should call the Sheriff’s Department at 909-383-5652
