Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, and Morongo Valley were among 13 localities that were part of a sex offender sweep over the last month. Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the State Parole, County Probation, Internet Crimes against Children, and Office of Juvenile Delinquency program were part of a task force that conducted 700 compliance checks to verify the home addresses of each registered sex offender. During the multi-agency sweep, named Operation Broken Heart, officers learned that two sex registrants had died; one was in custody, and 14 had moved from their last registered address. A total of 20 were arrested on various charges; their names and city of residence were not released.
