COUNTY WATER CUSTOMERS CAN PROTEST 20 PERCENT RATE INCREASE

Residents east of Yucca Mesa Road in Landers get their water from the County’s special district, and water rates have increased every year for the past 10 years. Residents recently received a notice of a proposed 20 percent hike in their water rates. However, the proposed increase can be killed if half of the 640 residents affected by the water rate increase file a written protest. Some residents are going door to door, talking to people at the post office, parks, and markets, and making phone calls, trying to get enough people to file a written protest by June 2 to kill the measure. For more information call 760-449-4048 or 760-364-4107.
