It would be hard to overlook the large construction site on the south side of Highway 62 near Sunny Vista Road on the western edge of Joshua Tree. Supervisors will likely approve agenda item 31 which calls for adding $724,000 to construction costs in order to compensate the contractor for accelerating the project completion date from April 22, 2018 to December 31, 2017. The change is necessary to comply with the state’s grant funding requirements. Once complete, the Crisis Residential Treatment facility will provide a positive, short-term treatment option with recovery based services and interventions in a home-like setting. Stays for 30 to 90 days will be available for adults age 18 and older diagnosed with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
