Representatives from the county’s department of Veterans Affairs are in Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms twice monthly to help veterans. Veterans can get assistance with compensation for service-connected disabilities; pensions; education and vocational rehabilitation benefits; fee waivers for California colleges; applications for VA medical benefits, and more. The Yucca Valley office, at 56357 Pima Trail, is open the first and third Tuesdays of the month, from 9 to 2:30. The Twentynine Palms office, 73639 Sun Valley Road, is open the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 9 to 2:30. Everyone is seen on a walk-in basis; no appointments are needed.
