COUNTY UPDATES COVID-19 UPDATE (5/6/20)

San Bernardino County reported four more deaths and confirmed an additional 147 coronavirus cases Tuesday, May 5. Since March 15, 101 people have died and 2,329 people have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the county’s online dashboard that tracks the pandemic locally. New numbers weren’t released Sunday or Monday because staff needed to validate its data, officials said. Locally there are 37 confirmed cases with Joshua Tree at 15 and the only two deaths; Yucca Valley at 11; Morongo Valley with six; and Twentynine Palms, five. Due to the revision of data, the county now shows that Landers has zero cases.

In the county of more than 2.1 million residents, 24,413 people have been tested for the disease, but only 9.5 percent were positive, according to the county’s data. Testing was up by 6.6 percent since Monday, May 4. The number of cases is doubling every 11.4 days.
