COUNTY UNION EMPLOYEES GET A RAISE

San Bernardino County and its largest employee union have agreed to a contract that a union official said provides much-needed relief from higher employee health-care costs. The contract with Teamsters Local 1932, which represents more than 11,000 of the county’s roughly 22,000 employees, also contains across-the-board raises spread out over several years. Union members ratified the deal before the Board of Supervisors signed off on it without discussion at its Tuesday, Sept. 10, meeting. The contract, which runs through July 31, 2023, is expected to cost $345.7 million over the term of the deal. County discretionary funding will pay for $80.8 million of that amount, with the rest paid for by non-county sources, according to County spokesman David Wert said.
