COUNTY TELEVISION SERVICES BACK ON FOR NOW; HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED

A raven, lightning, and flash flooding share the blame for this weekend’s troubles with the county television service. Scott Fritz with the county’s special services district, told Z107.7 News that a lightning strike blew several power poles out of the ground, and a raven landed on a transformer, causing the transformer to blow up. Flash flooding has washed out the road to the top of Pinto Mountain, making it difficult for workers to get up there to make the repairs. A back-up generator, which must be refilled with fuel every three days, is running the power for the TV service. Fritz said he hopes road and power repair crews will be able to repair the damage next week. And, he added, after 28 years of working for the county special services district, he plans to retire as of August 31.
