Morongo Basin seniors and those seeking mental health services are set to benefit if all goes as expected at tomorrow’s meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino. Reporter Mike Lipsitz fills us in…
Several items of interest to our Morongo Basin are on the consent calendar at tomorrow’s 10 a.m. meeting of the county board of supervisors. They include a $4.3 million increase and one-year extension through June 2019 in a contract with Valley Star Behavioral Health for operation of crisis walk-in centers, one on Dumosa Avenue in Yucca Valley and another in the Victorville area. The centers provide 24/7 access to a range of behavioral health services to people of all ages who are seriously mentally ill. The county’s Department of Behavioral Health anticipates an estimated 3,100 clients will be served at an approximate cost of $1,373 each. Also tomorrow, county supervisors are expected to approve contracts with Reach Out Morongo Basin for $150,000 and with Lucerne Valley Senior Citizens Center for just over $37,000. The funds are to provide senior supportive services through June 30, 2021. Tomorrow’s meeting streams online and to the first-floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road in Joshua Tree where public comment may be made via live video link.
