COUNTY SUPERVISORS TAKE UP MORONGO BASIN BUSINESS TOMORROW

Our Morongo Basin figures prominently at tomorrow’s 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino.  Among items on the agenda are revisions to the contract for the 16-bed crisis residential treatment facility going up along the highway in Joshua Tree. The changes and additions involve converting the facility’s septic system to a wastewater treatment plant, adding a fire hydrant, and revisions to the landscaping, retaining wall and other changes. The revisions, if approved, will drive up the facility’s costs a cool million dollars, for a total exceeding $9,500,000.  Also tomorrow, supervisors are expected to approve the appointment of Kathleen Arbaczewski to the Twentynine Palms Cemetery District; and approve an agreement with the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center to establish agency procedures for dealing with children there at risk of abuse or neglect. Tomorrow’s meeting streams online and to the first-floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road in Joshua Tree where public comment may be made via live video link.
