COUNTY SUPERVISORS MEET TOMORROW, TWO LOCAL ITEMS ON AGENDA

The County Board of Supervisors meets tomorrow in Regular session. Two items are on the agenda of local interest. A new videoconferencing center in Joshua Tree allows local residents to attend electronically without having to go to San Bernardino. Reporter Dan Stork tells us what affects us on that agenda…
As reported on Friday, there will be a public hearing during the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday July 23, on a proposed extension to a moratorium on commercial solar energy projects. The extension would be for up to an additional 10 1/2 months, at the end of the current 45 day moratorium. The purpose is to allow county staff to develop code amendments “for the purpose of enhancing and protecting compatibility with surrounding land uses.” The consent agenda for the meeting formalizes the creation of the seven-member Municipal Advisory Committee for Johnson and Lucerne Valleys. The appointees are: Lorne Abercrombie, Jean Fuqua, Jean Magee, Betty Munson, Roger Peterson, Richard Selby, and Joanna Wright. The nine-member MAC that covers most of the unincorporated areas of the Morongo Basin has not yet been announced. Supervisor Ramos is requesting that anyone who attends the meeting through the videoconferencing facility at the county government center in Joshua Tree to please sign in, as the public utilization of the facility will be evaluated after one year. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in San Bernardino.
