COUNTY SUPERVISORS MEET, SEVERAL ITEMS AFFECT OUR MORONGO BASIN

Supervisors will likely approve agenda item 30 which would pay a San Diego firm $135,000 to $150,000 to establish a program for ongoing community-sponsored culture and art programs designed to complement and enrich the lifestyle, education, and business opportunities in the Basin. Item 60 will extend the rebate and education programs for Morongo Valley and Pioneertown residents who rely on County Special Districts for water. And on a last item of note, supervisors are expected to adopt resolutions which will put in place voter-approved special tax increases for service zone FP-5. Twentynine Palms residents will pay a three percent increase for fire protection and those in Wonder Valley will see a one-and-a-half percent increase. Tomorrow’s meeting streams online and to the first-floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road where public comment may be made via live video link.
