At tomorrow’s regular 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino, the board is expected to give final approval to place their proposed new county charter before voters at the November third election. The new charter will appear on the ballot under the title, “The San Bernardino County Supervisor Compensation Reduction and Term Limits Initiative.” Reporter Mike Lipsitz has been following the issue and files this report…
While the proposed new charter would change the term limit for supervisors from three consecutive terms to three terms total, and would change the salary for supervisors from one complicated formula to a slightly simplified complicated formula the new charter includes a handful of other provisions that are far from apparent in the ballot measure’s title. For a summary of other items in the new charter that would mean sweeping changes in connection with the autonomy of the county’s public health officers, emergency preparedness, campaign finance regulations, redistricting, and filling board vacancies, and others: https://sanbernardino.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=8689572&GUID=B876881A-BDDF-492D-B462-5C37A15D8BFB
