When county supervisors meet tomorrow, Robert Lovingood will be sitting in the chairman’s seat. Lovingood replaced James Ramos in a board reorganization. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us what to expect during Tuesday’s 10 a.m. meeting…
Among the many items on tomorrow’s agenda when county supervisors meet in San Bernardino, the board is expected to authorize a vote by property owners in the Copper Mountain Mesa area on a proposal to increase the current annual road maintenance fee there. The fee, which appears on property tax bills, would increase from $20 to $60 per parcel with an annual inflationary increase of up to 2.5 percent. Tomorrow’s board action will also establish May 2 at the date that supervisors would certify an election. Like most of the Basin’s unincorporated communities, road maintenance fees haven’t been raised in the Copper Mountain Mesa area in almost three decades, primarily because of an unwillingness of property owners to support tax and fee increases for any reason. The result has led to deteriorating road conditions as the county has struggled to maintain services as costs have continued to rise.
